Crafted in Spain
The creation of an espadrille is a modern craft deeply rooted in tradition, preserving the spirit, heritage, and artisanal techniques passed down through generations. Discover the step-by-step process behind how we bring our espadrilles to life.
The Design
Our footwear design team carefully studies the latest trends to shape the essence of our upcoming collections, always staying true to the Toni Pons identity and brand spirit.
The design journey starts with an initial sketch, which evolves into the final concepts and individual pieces that bring each collection to life.
Jute: A Natural Craft
The soles of our espadrilles are crafted using time-honored techniques and premium-quality jute.
We begin by creating skeins from natural jute fiber, which are dyed when colored soles are needed. These fibers are then braided using specialized machinery.
Next, the braids are hand-shaped into soles on a traditional rotating table, forming their distinctive silhouette. To enhance durability, each sole is reinforced with transverse stitching. Finally, we apply a natural rubber layer through a vulcanization process, ensuring strength and flexibility.
The Textures of Toni Pons
At Toni Pons, sustainability is at the core of who we are. That’s why we work exclusively with high-quality, natural materials.
Jute fiber, cotton canvas, linen, silk, raffia, and premium leather are just some of the materials that bring our espadrilles to life.
Each season, we carefully curate a selection of the finest and most on-trend materials, ensuring every collection reflects both the unique character of Toni Pons and our commitment to responsible craftsmanship.
Cut, Stitch, Create
Once the selected materials arrive at our workshop in large rolls or sheets, they are carefully cut into the various shapes that will form each espadrille.
Skilled cutters extract multiple components from each piece, which are then expertly stitched together to begin shaping the final product.
The hand-sewn
The process of making an espadrille today still echoes the traditional methods used centuries ago.
One of the most distinctive features of the Orígens range by Toni Pons is the hand-stitched finish, an unmistakable mark of true craftsmanship.
We proudly preserve this artisanal technique, carefully joining the upper and the sole by hand, one stitch at a time.
The Final Step
Every pair of Toni Pons espadrilles goes through rigorous quality checks to ensure it meets our highest brand standards.
Once approved, each shoe is carefully wrapped in cellulose paper and placed in its designated box, according to its collection: Orígens, Essencial, Premium, Toni, or #instint.
This meticulous process is carried out by a skilled and dedicated team, committed to delivering the craftsmanship, comfort, and style that define the Toni Pons experience.
